Dear SBAOI Members, Nominations are invited from the Members of SBAOI with 10 years or more of active membership for the
Fellow of Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (FBAO) Award. Nominations should be supported by an
existing Fellow. The nomination form is attached herewith. Completed nominations may be e-mailed to
sbaoiawards@gmail.com and copied to ashokastha@gmail.com on or before 10th August 2024 (5:00 PM). The criteria for nominations are as follows: * Nominees should have appropriate professional training (Master's & PhD/Professional/Research
degree), competence and good performing research in the broader area of ‘biomaterials science’
with 10 or more years of active membership in the society and notable contributions to the
development of the society (organizing SBAOI National conferences/workshop/short courses for the
biomaterials community in India). * Nominees should have made significant and outstanding contributions to Biomaterials Science and
engineering, documented by sustained efforts in biomaterials research, development, education, or
administration. This should be at par with International standing and should be leading his/her
domain of research. * Nominees should have a continuing record of publication in refereed top level journals appropriate
to the candidate's contributions to the field. In particular, nominees from academia or R & D labs
are expected to have published their work in high impact Journals in the field. The publications and
patents are expected from the work solely carried out in India. * Nominees should have remarkable records in developing indigenous technologies comparable to the
above-stated academic contributions and their successful commercialization. The equivalency of the
Efforts in developing and commercializing a product vs. scientific achievement will be determined
by the committee and the committee’s decision will be final. * Nominees should have made significant contributions towards the growth of medical devices by
setting up industrial bases in India with continuing R&D efforts to achieve excellence on par with
the global perspective. * All members of SBAOI including members from abroad fulfilling above criteria can be nominated for
this fellowship. The number of fellows elected will be limited and will be decided by the award
committee.
